Advertising Standards Agency Aims At Audiophile Cables.

(Ok, so it’s not perfect alliteration)
According to The Register:

The Advertising Standards Authority has slapped hi-kit supplier Russ Andrews for claiming its super-duper mains cables could reduce radio interference on the power line.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Mains electricity passes through thousands of miles of wire, many transformers and switches to get to your house. Did you think that passing it through one or two metres of expensive cable will make a discernible difference? Really?

If I wanted to improve the taste of the local tap water, I would not achieve that by inserting a metre of expensive pipe between the mains water intake and the tap at the kitchen sink.
